"SO LONG AND THANKS FOR THE FISH" Over the past five years, I have had the honor and privilege of serving as your Commodore. I am so grateful for the benefit of outstanding support from the officers, board members, training staff, and membership to help a great organization grow. This season we were reminded just how important our presence on the river can be. The tragedies that have occurred should not overshadow the many that we have prevented over the past 25 years. Our mission is one of selfless commitment of time, effort, and monies. Reading the patrol logs, I am reminded of just how many positive interventions we have had. I look forward to the organization growing even more in the future. Through the efforts of Dick Rhodes and the financial help of the NPS, we have finally trained two of our training staff as ACA SWR instructor trainers. Thank you to Mike Webster and Sean “Crash” O’Neil for the time they have dedicated to this certification. This opens another avenue by which we will further our role of educating the paddling community. As I move on, in other roles with the NCSP, I would like to wish the future Commodore and officers the best of luck and support in the growth of the NCSP. Thank you Dick, Mary K. Megan, Hal, Crash, Mike, Joel, DeJay, Troy, Bill and June, Donna, Mark, and all of you! Respectfully, Bill Walters Commodore NCSP 2004-2009
